September 2023, London
HANetf, Europe’s first and only independent white-label UCITS ETF and ETC platform[1], and leading provider of digital asset ETPs, is delighted to announce that EMQQ Emerging Markets Internet & Ecommerce UCITS ETF (ticker: EMQQ) has passed its fifth anniversary.
Launched on London Stock Exchange on 5th October 2018, EMQQ tracks an index of leading internet and ecommerce companies that serve emerging markets, including search engines, online retailers, social networks, online video, online gaming, e-payment systems, and online travel. Since listing, the ETF has seen its assets under management (AuM) grow to $179 million. [2]
EMQQ Global maintains the index and is a partner for the UCITS EMQQ product. Kevin Carter, the founder and CIO of EMQQ Global, has over 15 years of experience investing in emerging markets and China and is the former student and collaborator with indexing legend, Dr. Burton Malkiel. [3]
EMQQ is the UCITS version of the Emerging Markets Internet & Ecommerce ETF, listed in New York, with $496 million in assets under management (AuM).[4] This marked the first time that HANetf brought a US-listed ETF to Europe – an innovative first step for HANetf’s white-label service.
Since then, HANetf has turned approximately 10 US ETFs into Irish-domiciled UCITS ETFs. The white-label model allows US asset managers to enter the European market quickly, and cost-effectively. The European ETF market has seen strong growth, and is expected to reach $2.5 trillion AUM by 2025 – HANetf allows asset managers in the US to meet that demand.
Since the launch of EMQQ, HANetf has launched 35 ETPs, and has been first-to-market in Europe with 14 themes, demonstrating the continued commitment to innovation and providing new and exciting opportunities to European investors.
Hector McNeil, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of HANetf, comments: “We are delighted to be celebrating the 5th anniversary of EMQQ Emerging Markets Internet & Ecommerce UCITS ETF (ticker: EMQQ). EMQQ was the first UCITS ETF launched by HANetf and allowed us to demonstrate our white-label model’s ability to turn US-listed ETFs into Irish-domiciled UCITS ETFs, quickly and cost-effectively – something we have now repeated numerous times.
“The ETF’s launch was an important milestone for HANetf and set the stage for 35 subsequent launches on our platform. We look forward to seeing the continuation of EMQQ’s growth in the coming years.”
