HANetf, Europe’s first and only independent white-label UCITS ETF and ETC platform[2], and leading provider of digital asset ETPs, is pleased to announce that Procure Space UCITS ETF (YODA) has undergone a significant rebalance, with a focus on lunar technology.
The space economy sector comprises companies generating their revenues from extraterrestrial activities, such as satellite operators and hardware, as well as early entry into longer-term themes such as space tourism and hospitality.
Tourism specifically has been a hot topic of late, especially with Virgin Galactic (a holding of YODA) successfully beginning commercial operations with their rocket, Unity. The company’s stock jumped 12% in June, and the nascent sector seems unlikely to slow down anytime soon. [3]
Beyond this, an increasing number of companies are looking to the Moon, for the purposes of mining, research, and even habitation. The “cislunar” field, i.e. the activities concerning the space between the Earth and the Moon, has been growing apace—and could have huge potential in the coming years.
Accordingly, HANetf’s space ETF rebalanced this month and added two new holdings—ispace, which was only publicly listed in April of this year, and Intuitive Machines, which merged with a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) in February and started trading on Nasdaq.
Andrew Chanin, CEO of Procure AM, comments: “ispace is a lunar focused exploration company with a background in the development of lunar rovers and landers. The company’s main goal is to help identify and map vital resources on the Moon. As more nations look to establish bases on the Moon, access to readily available resources will be a highly coveted necessity. The primary focus at this time is lunar water, a critical resource for supporting human life.
“Meanwhile, Intuitive Machines has diversified into a multi-offering pure-play space company. Despite its relative youth, the company has been awarded multiple NASA lunar contracts related to the delivery of payloads both to orbit and to the Moon's surface. We have heard a lot surrounding unlocking value from the cislunar economy, and this company has uniquely positioned itself to focus on many of these potential opportunities as well as other. Although new to the public markets, the company has attracted significant attention from space focused investors and beyond”
